Reiki is a form of alternative medicine that uses energy to heal. This method was developed in Japan in the early twentieth century by Mikao Usui. The practice is based on the transfer of universal energy from the therapist’s hands to the client’s body in order to accelerate healing and bring balance. Reiki can be incorporated into other activities. It works very well in combination with massage.
What is Reiki massage
Reiki treatment is usually done by a light touch or raising your hands above your body. Reiki included in the massage can be performed in different ways depending on the preferences of the massaged and massaging person. Usually it will be noticeable by stopping hands on a given area of the body, or massaging a specific place in a gentle way for a long time.
Reiki massage, like a standard Reiki treatment, can be different for each session. The energy demand of the body is variable, and the need to get rid of accumulated toxins (grounding) varies for a given day or moment.
The Reiki therapist, as a person transmitting energy, adapts to the needs of the client.
What are the benefits of Reiki massage
Reiki massage allows you to direct energy to specific areas of tension or imbalance in order to restore balance in both the physical and emotional body. It is believed that by using this technique, you can release stress from both your mind and body while promoting overall health.
The benefits of Reiki massage are huge because:
- helps reduce the level of pain associated with chronic diseases such as arthritis,
- improves circulation,
- promotes deep relaxation,
- increases mental clarity by reducing anxiety levels,
- strengthens immunity by increasing the number of white blood cells, which help fight the infection better than before starting treatment,
- relieves headaches caused by muscle tension caused by stressors such as deadlines at work or family responsibilities,
- increases self-awareness through increased mindfulness practices,
- It reduces the symptoms of depression by improving mood states as a result of reduced cortisol production.
All these factors lead to an improvement in the quality of life of anyone who regularly attends Reiki massage sessions.
Regular Reiki massages can be beneficial for anyone looking for relief from physical ailments, emotional stress, spiritual blockages, fatigue, lack of motivation, etc. With a gentle but powerful approach to restoring balance in your own being – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual – there is no doubt why so many people seek this type of therapy when there is a need for extra support in difficult times. Ultimately, however, whatever the reasons, incorporating regular treatments into your wellness routine undoubtedly makes the person feel more relaxed, energetic and balanced than ever before!
How to prepare for a Reiki massage
Proper preparation for Reiki massage is very important if we want to get the best possible results. There are several steps you can take before starting a Reiki massage.
Immediately before the treatment, we should not drink coffee or energy drinks, which may interfere with obtaining an adequate state of relaxation.
Before going for a massage, you can use the technique of meditation or Body Awareness Breathing.
The next stage of preparation for a Reiki massage is to find the right time for the procedure, which will allow you to break away from the whirlpool of everyday life. It is not advisable to make an appointment for the procedure just before work, an important meeting, during work, because the client often wanders thoughts, is in a state of stress or anxiety associated with limited time, glances at the watch… A Reiki session should take place after fulfilling duties, on a day off from work or at a time when nothing is able to disturb the thoughts of the person undergoing the treatment.
For the duration of the treatment, it is worth taking off the watch, muting and putting down the phone. The session should proceed in complete relaxation, free from disturbances in the form, e.g. incoming notifications on the phone.
The last stage of preparation for hand massage therapy will be wearing light, non-compressive clothing. During the massage, the client undresses, because unlike the standard session, the body is touched and moisturized and/or oiled. However, despite this, after a Reiki massage, the client should not compress the body with tight clothing. Light clothing that allows for high flexibility of movement, keeps the body in proper condition for some time after the practice of therapeutic Reiki massage.
After the Reiki session, you should drink 1-3 glasses of water.
It should be remembered that the first night after the session can be strongly regenerating, which depends on the needs of the body. You should allow yourself to rest.
