Little known fears – anuptaphobia, phonephobia, somniphobia

Phobias are irrational fears that can cause extreme anxiety in those who suffer from them. While some phobias, such as arachnophobia (fear of spiders) or acrophobia (fear of heights), can be quite common, there are also many phobias that many people have never heard of. Such phobias include fear of loneliness or fear of falling asleep.

Anuptaphobia

Anuptaphobia is the fear of staying single or the lack of a romantic partner. This particular phobia can lead to feelings such as loneliness and uncertainty in social situations where other people seem to be connected to someone else.

Telephoneophobia

Phonephobia is the intense fear associated with using phones or talking through them in any way. People suffering from this condition often feel overwhelmed even by the thought of having to make phone calls, which leads to panic attacks when they have to do it for professional purposes.

Somniphobia

Somniphobia is an irrational but very real fear associated with sleeping alone at night. People affected by this disorder not only have difficulty falling asleep, but also have difficulty going back to bed if they wake up during the night. They usually feel more comfortable sleeping on the couch than in their own bed due to a lack of comfort when trying to sleep alone.
