Elderberry – health properties

Elderberry is a shrub native to Europe, North America and parts of Asia. Berries are rich in antioxidants and vitamins, making them an ideal choice for supporting overall health. Elderberry is known to have antiviral properties that can help fight cold and flu viruses. In addition, elderberries contain anthocyanins that can help reduce inflammation in the body while providing antioxidant protection against free radical damage.

Antiviral properties of elderberry

Elderberry has antioxidant properties that may help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. It also contains anti-inflammatory compounds that may be beneficial in reducing inflammation associated with arthritis or other chronic conditions. In addition, elderberries have antiviral effects that can help reduce cold or flu-related symptoms. They should be regularly consumed during peak seasonal periods (autumn and winter months) when viruses tend to spread more easily.

Elderberry for stress and allergies

The antioxidants present in elderberry extract may provide protection against oxidative stress in tissue cells throughout the body (including organs such as heart muscles), leading to improved cardiovascular health over time. Research suggests that taking elderberry supplements orally could potentially provide relief from allergy-related problems, mainly due to the presence of two specific flavonoid molecules called quercetin and kaempferol. These are powerful, natural histamine blockers that help reduce the discomfort of sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, runny nose, and even allergic (hay fever) skin reactions.

The juice from the Black Elderberry

Elderberry juice contains vitamins A, B6, C and E and minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc. Possessing antiviral properties, it can reduce inflammation associated with allergies or asthma attacks – as long as the juice is taken regularly before the onset of symptoms. Elderberry extract can help lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes when taken daily for at least three months without any other changes to diet or lifestyle habits.

To fully experience the properties of elderberry juice, it is best to drink freshly squeezed juice every day, alone or mixed with cocktails, juices, teas – adding honey will sweeten the drink, but too much added sugar can nullify some of the healthy benefits.
