Why does it rumble in the stomach

Each of us experiences an unpleasant rumbling in the stomach. Why is this happening? The truth is that there are several reasons for a noisy digestive system. Understanding the causes of this condition allows you to take appropriate preventive measures.

Feeling of hunger

One of the common and obvious causes of rumbling in the belly is hunger. It appears when the body needs energy. The body sends signals to convey the need for fuel. At the same time, it makes sounds resembling gurgling or rumbling – in other words, the belly “growls”.

To stop unpleasant sounds and feel better quickly (without overeating unhealthy snacks), it is worth eating small meals during the day instead of, for example, three large ones and drinking plenty of liquids, such as water or herbal tea between meals. This will help stop hunger pangs without giving too much energy.

Food intolerances

Another reason for noisy noises coming from the abdomen may be the accumulation of gases in the intestines. Some foods, such as beans, onions, garlic, dairy products, citrus fruits, apples, pears, gluten, for example, contribute to the formation of gases. If this happens often, it is advisable to limit the consumption of this type of food and observe yourself. If, despite the exclusion of the above components from the diet, gases accumulate, you should consult a doctor, conduct appropriate tests, including gastroscopy and tests aimed at food allergens.

Indigestion

Indigestion can also cause belly noise. Here, avoiding spicy foods, cold foods and drinks as well as highly processed products will work. It is worth paying attention to the composition of products and choosing those with the simplest possible. Fruits and vegetables should be thoroughly washed before consumption, and it is best to chafe them, or consume them in boiled or pickled form.

Unfavorable lifestyle

Rumbling in the stomach can also be caused by stress or inappropriate clothing. Wearing oppressive clothing can cause gas build-up. Lifestyle can also be the cause of these ailments. An example is a sitting position maintained for most of the day, or withholding physiological needs, e.g. due to the presence of a close, important person.

A noisy belly is not unusual, but understanding its cause is crucial when trying to determine how best to deal with this discomfort. It can be helpful to change your eating habits, lifestyle, environment or attitude.
